This song was commissioned by Dr. Terry for his 43rd wedding anniversary with Dr. Laurel Ewell. I have always wanted to compose a piece for this beautiful book written by King Solomon in the bible.
After the commissioning of this piece I closely studied this book and pondered on the love of God for the church and the love that is shared in marriage.
Studying this book I could experience deep meanings and expressions that words alone cannot describe but music can experience.
I am really grateful to compose this beautiful song of love that describes best the sacrament of Matrimony.
The flute plays the Shulamite woman while the Bassoon plays the Bridegroom. The song flows from Chapter one to eight of the book of Solomon.
